Customer Reviews

The prong on the original charger for my 210 netbook broke and HP refused to cover it under their warranty. That started my search for a replacement. Finding few options, and most far more than I wanted to spend, I took a gamble on this one, despite the mixed reviews. It worked beautifully for a few months, but then I started noticing that the charge was inconsistent. It would flicker on and off during charging and I'd have to check the connections and jiggle the prong in the socket to get it to connect.
Despite the annoyances, I kept using this product. Soon after, I began noticing a smell not unlike a curling iron. I realized it was coming from the charger. The "box" section in the middle of the cord was so hot that I BURNED my finger on it. The light was flickering and you could tell it was under extreme stress. After that, I was afraid to charge my netbook while sleeping or away from home. I'm glad I decided on that, because a few minutes ago, I caught a whiff of the "curling iron" odor again, only stronger. I realized the reason it was stronger was because the plastic housing on the "box" section was melting and my SOFA WAS BEING SCORCHED. If I had been charging overnight, this could easily have started a fire.
I don't lightly give a product a bad rating, but this is just downright UNSAFE. Please, do what I should have done in the first place. Spend a little more and get a SAFE charger for your netbook.
Edited to add: I reported the safety issues to Amazon and their customer service department was very prompt in replying to me. The issue is being reported via the proper channels and hopefully this unsafe product will be discontinued before anyone does have a fire.

Seriously - considering the price was only $15 for the a knock-off version of the same power supply that HP wants $50 for and Best Buy wants $100... I was willing to take the risk and give it a whirl.
I'm REALLY glad that I did!
I'm using this for my HP 1000 (1116nr)... it doesn't fit in the power-port 100% perfectly (it falls out easily) but it fits well enough to be worth the price and it works!
No complaints! Thank you!
